How to upload and order - Text with illustrations

Postby julia » Mon Dec 07, 2009 6:11 am

Note: As a relatively new provider of online services, we are constantly updating and improving our website. This tutorial includes some screens of which the layout is slightly different from the current web version. With our next major release in the first quarter of 2010, we will update all tutorials.

If you want to have your photos processed by Pictorescue, you need an account. If you don't have an account, click Register NOW! on the upper left corner of the page. Fill in the required information (marked with an *), enter optional information, agree with the terms and conditions and click sign up. Then check your email to confirm your registration. After the registration confirmation, you can sign in with your new username and password.
If you have forgotten your password, click on the Forgotten password link. Input your user name and email address and submit. You will receive a new password via your email.

The uploading and order process consists of 3 steps. First you need upload your photos. Then you select a type of service and add the details of your requirements. Then add all to your basket and place your order.

How to upload photos?
Click the upload icon at the upper right of each page (only visible when you are signed in) or the Upload photos link at the lower left of each page. There are different ways to upload photos.

Upload via FTP
This option is only available to users who are registered for the FTP upload service and is designed for “bulk” uploads.
If you want to delete some uploaded photos, just ignore them when you select the services. The order will apply only to the photos you have selected for a service.

How to choose a service?
You can choose between four services: basic, comprehensive, extensive and colorization. Each service is described on the Pictorescue website: http://pictorescue.com/index.php?ch=dis ... ge&page=26
Drag and drop a photo to the section at the bottom that says: "Drag and drop a photo here for a new instruction".You will see that the photo immediately moves to the section at the upper part. We call this the instruction. Here you can select the service and specify your instructions. Please note that for the “Extensive service” the process of specifying instructions is slightly different from specifying the other services.
In this example we will choose to have the photo processed with the basic service.

Now you can drag and drop all photos that need to be processed in the same way, to this instruction.

How to give us your instructions?
After choosing the service, please click ">>Enter details" to specify your instruction. The instruction will apply to all photos that you dragged and dropped to this instruction. In the detailed instruction your can specify what you want us to do, as well as specify the delivery method. At the end of each instruction form you will find a section called “Additional charges”. If you are not an expert, then the only relevant option is the first one: a surcharge that applies to photos that are not in JPG format. You can just ignore the other options for color space, XML, etc. These are options for advanced processing.

For all the services you can add as many photos as you want to one instruction. This works differently for the “Extensive service”. Here, all the photos you add (max. 3) are for the purpose of creating one new image. Examples are: photo montage, changing a background or adding a person.
The best approach is to drag the main photo to the lower section of the screen to create a new instruction, and then drag the other photos to the newly created instruction (just above the “uploaded photos” section).

Here is an example for photo montage.

In the example below we have created an instruction for the Extensive service. The main subject is the woman and the requested background is the sunset.

Completing an instruction
You can create as many instructions as you like and submit them all at once as an order by clicking the “Add all to basket” button.
However, if you have many photos and many instruction it is better to add instructions to your basket, every time you have finished one. It will keep your screen more clear and you will have a better overview of your unfinished instructions.
Click "Add to basket" when you have completed the instruction. The instruction will be added to your order (you will need to confirm on the next page) and will disappear from this screen.
Click "Proceed to checkout" once you have completed all instructions and added them to your basket.

Review order and process payment
The next step is that you review and confirm your order. You can pay an order on delivery when the order amount is less than 20 EUR. If the order amount is 20 EUR or more you need to pre-pay at least 50% of the order amount. The advantage of pre-paying the order is that you will receive substantial discounts. See our page “Payments and discounts” for details. http://www.pictorescue.com/index.php?ch ... ge&page=53

Once you have reviewed your order, you need to specify your payment. With Pictorescue you do this by adding money to your account balance. The page will show what is the minimum amount to add to your account balance in order to process the order. If you want to change your order, click edit order. If you want to proceed to check-out and pay, click next

If your current account balance does not cover the minimum amount needed to process the order, you will be directed to PayPal for adding an amount to your account balance. If you don’t have a PayPal account linked to your bank account, you can use your credit card to pay.

After you successfully completed the payment processing in PayPal you will receive a confirmation of your payment.
